Sunday mornings are typically spent lazing around, playing games, painting, playing outside- all the things to which there should be no time limit. It is perhaps one of the best days in our home because there are no activities planned and we don’t have an agenda to be anywhere at a specific time.
This Sunday morning in particular, we spent a couple hours building with the QuBits Construction Toy, which we received as a complimentary gift from the company. If you’re a fan of Shark Tank then the name is familiar and if you’re not, then kindly do yourself the favor of checking out their building kit which provides brightly colored durable, flexible construction pieces. My kids thoroughly enjoyed the fact that their building concepts could all be brought to life in 3D form. There were many 3D shapes, bridges, towers, a carriage ride, a marble run and the beginning of a car…until we ran out of pieces.
If you’ve been following me from the beginning then you know that not only do we choose to home educate our children but we also strongly encourage and facilitate creativity and open ended play. It is amazing to see what they build and create when their eyes are not fixated on a screen.
After playing with this toy and watching the engagement of my children with it, I can completely understand why it is dominating the STEM market for children.
